Philips Research Europe
After implementing the intranet website for Philips Research's ICT department Zest Software is selected again to implement the Philips Research Europe intranet. This will involve integrating over 50 static intranet websites into one Plone CMS.For the ICT department of Philips Research, Zest Software developed a set of custom content types to store documentation, meeting minutes and high priority news items and implemented the Philips corporate style.
Because Philips Research has 6 laboratories all over the world they wanted to be able to target content based upon the location from which the site is viewed. For this Zest Software developed a concept of location awareness. Each piece of content has a Location field, which allow authors for publish content to one location, e.g. Eindhoven, or all locations. With this features employees of Aachen are not bothered with news that there's a road block in Eindhoven.
Another extra feature allows for fully automated weekly newsletter being send to those users who have subscribe themself in their personal preferences. This newsletter wil show them a listing of all items that were modified in the past week.
To prevent content from getting outdated another weekly email is sent to the owners of content which shows them a listing of items the are not modified since a configurable period. Following the link within this email they can review the content. In case the content is still valid they can simply validate it by clicking a validation icon.
