The first European Plone Symposium 2009 takes place in Sorrento (Naples), Italy
Abstract Open Solutions organizes the European Plone Symposium 2009 from 11 to 17 May 2009. This symposium presenting new tools to fight the licensed software, and it will be the first Symposium to be held in Europe. A PloneGov event will complete the programme.
The Plone Community is invited to share a 7 days event in the great scenario of Sorrento, famous town of the Italian coast. The European Plone Symposium will be held from the 11th to the 17th of May. The participants will spend the week learning about Plone, discussing about its applications and debugging it.
The European Plone Symposium 2009 will be the first symposium held in a European country so to promote the participation of the Europeans Plone communities. According to the organizing committee, the information technologies are changing very quickly and even big business and Government agencies are unable to escape the financial crisis.
Many businesses of the ZEA Partners network (also promoting and supporting the PloneGov initiative) have adopted Plone as tool to create a better communication net with lower cost, sharing technology to develop a Content Management System able to satisfy the needs of the new economy. The Plone Symposium 2009 is the occasion to gather the Plone Community and work together at the Plone diffusion and improvement.
The Symposium will be hosted by the Hotel Mediterraneo; the calendar scheduled is: a 2 days Training session where new users will have time to make acquaintance with Plone and its applications; after this warm-up old members of the Community will present the core of the of the meeting, the Symposium, 2 days of talks, seminars, presentations, lectures, case studies and much more about Plone; the last 3 days will be dedicated to the Sprint, when developers will meet to debug and practically improve Plone. As a side event to the Symposium, a one-day workshop about PloneGov will be held on Friday 15 May.
The open source structure of Plone allows you to modify it as better suits you, while avoiding licences fees and obtaining the Plone Community's support.
The Plone Symposium is an occasion to improve Plone, sharing results, solving problems, debugging, presenting new applications and constructively arguing about the future.
Plone, as CMS, and its projects have been chosen by a large public and have been supported by its community and by the Plone Foundation that provides legal and practical help. The Plone Symposium is one of the annual events that help the developers meeting and working together to improve this technology and suggest how to use it in the world.
