Plone a winning technology: the 2 best IST projects websites are built on Plone. The jury outlined a number of Plone technical qualities: ease of navigation, good presentation and compliance with the W3C guidelines on web accessibility.

The Best IST Project Website Award was open to all projects within the Information Society Technologies (IST) priority of the EU’s Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) for research and development.

There were 256 IST Projects enrolled their site into the competition via this website, through which the wider Internet community rated them online. Over 21,000 ratings were received, resulting in a shortlist from which a jury selected the winners.

The aim of the competition was to encourage IST projects to improve their websites, enhancing both their content and visibility, as well as publicizing the projects' activities. The winners were announced at the IST 2006 closing session.

Humaine won the grand prize of the Best IST project website and Health Agents was judged second.

Humaine

Humaine - Research on Emotions and Human-Machine Interaction - was awarded for its contribution to community building, its easy navigation and its very comprehensive content. The site also follows the W3C guidelines on web accessibility.

Health Agents

Health Agents, focusing on brain tumour diagnosis and prognosis, was chosen by the jury because of its comprehensive content, its ease of navigation, its good presentation of results and its adherence to W3C guidelines on web accessibility.
